The New England Patriots may be 2-7 this season, but they’ve shown some improvement recently.
After a Week 8 victory over the New York Jets, they narrowly lost to the Tennessee Titans in overtime last Sunday.
Could this signal an upward trend for the Patriots? Greg Dudek of NESN doesn’t think so.
In an article with four bold predictions for the team’s season, Dudek suggests the Patriots might lose every remaining game.
“Sorry to start with bad news, but the Patriots won’t add to the win column until 2025,” Dudek wrote.
He points out that New England faces the league’s fifth-toughest remaining schedule, including two games against the Buffalo Bills and a matchup with a strengthened Miami Dolphins team featuring a returning Tua Tagovailoa.
While the Patriots put up a fight against the Titans, who entered the game at 1-6, it was likely one of their best chances for another win in 2024.
However, a losing streak may not be entirely negative for New England.
As a rebuilding team, the Patriots need high-level talent, making a better draft pick highly desirable.
Few expected New England to compete for much this season, so a 2-15 record wouldn’t be surprising.
In the last stretch of the season, the Patriots’ main goal should be focusing on player development, especially with quarterback Drake Maye, to see which young players can contribute to their future.
They’re set to face the Chicago Bears this Sunday.
