If New England was focused on the present, wouldn’t they have added a player or two to support quarterback Drake Maye? And if they were looking toward the future, why not trade veterans for draft picks?

The Patriots’ offseason was largely disappointing; they made no impactful free-agent signings, and aside from Maye, their 2024 draft picks haven’t shown much promise.
The trade deadline could have been a chance to start fixing things, but they chose to maintain the roster as it is.
Granted, making trades isn’t simple, but New England reportedly fielded many calls from teams wanting to deal.
