A Green Bay Packers player added fuel to the rivalry with the Detroit Lions ahead of their matchup at Lambeau Field on Sunday in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Packers safety Xavier McKinney spoke to reporters on Friday as he looked forward to Week 9’s high-stakes clash between the NFC North’s top two teams.
McKinney criticized the Lions, accusing them of trying to humiliate teams during their recent five-game winning streak.
The Lions have averaged a winning margin of 19.6 points per game and have been known to pull out trick plays when the game is already out of reach. “In my opinion, I think they try to embarrass people,” McKinney said (via Detroit Lions on SI). “And I think this organization and the players we have here don’t really take that lightly.
We know that’s what they’re going to come here and try to do. … Personally, I’m not a big fan of trying to embarrass someone. I don’t really respect that. But it is what it is.”
The Packers are also on a winning streak, having won four consecutive games, though their victories have been close, with three decided by five points or fewer.
A win on Sunday would give Green Bay sole possession of the NFC North lead.
However, the uncertain injury status of Packers quarterback Jordan Love could make things more challenging for Green Bay.
