The Cleveland Browns are aiming to secure their first winning streak of the season as they host the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 9.
Linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (JOK), who sustained a neck injury last game requiring an overnight hospital stay, has already been ruled out for this matchup, marking a significant loss for the team.
Additionally, linebacker Jordan Hicks (elbow, triceps) will miss the game as well. Cornerback Denzel Ward (concussion) and linebacker Khaleke Hudson are listed as questionable.
On Friday, left guard Joel Bitonio (foot), tight end David Njoku (ankle), and Ward all returned to practice after missing two days. Ward’s return was unexpected, as he cleared concussion protocol, though this is his sixth confirmed concussion, and the Browns may opt to be cautious.
The Browns will need to make adjustments with both Hicks and JOK out, relying on Mohamoud Diabate, who has stepped up recently, and Winston Reid, who saw increased playing time against the Ravens in Week 8.
Running back Nick Chubb is expected to continue building momentum after returning from injury, with 52 rushing yards last week against Baltimore.
Cleveland also saw success in the passing game with Jameis Winston in his first start, and they’ll look to replicate that against a strong Los Angeles defense.
