Unless something extraordinary happens, the Cleveland Browns have no plans to trade Myles Garrett. While they might entertain offers to cover their bases, the odds of him being moved before the NFL trade deadline are incredibly slim, likely less than one percent.
Still, that hasn’t stopped fans and analysts from dreaming up bold trade scenarios for the Defensive Player of the Year.
For instance, former NFL general manager and current ESPN analyst Mike Tannenbaum recently shared a wild proposal on Get Up, suggesting the Browns trade Garrett to the Detroit Lions.
In his scenario, Cleveland would receive running back Jahmyr Gibbs, three first-round draft picks, and a second-round pick in exchange. Known for his outlandish ideas, Tannenbaum’s suggestion is unsurprisingly ambitious.
While such an offer would bring a significant return to the Browns, the financial impact of trading Garrett would result in a massive dead cap hit, making the move unfeasible for Cleveland.
For the Lions, even with Aidan Hutchinson dealing with an injury, it’s hard to imagine Detroit giving up that much for Garrett, especially with Hutchinson’s future in Detroit looking solid at just 24 years old.
Right now, the Browns don’t appear interested in a full-scale rebuild. Unless circumstances change drastically soon, it’s highly unlikely Garrett will be traded.
