The Packers announced on Wednesday that they are releasing defensive lineman Jonathan Ford, who had just been activated from injured reserve the day before.
In addition, the team is re-signing long snapper Matt Orzech, who was also released recently. Ford is expected to join the Packers’ practice squad after clearing waivers.
At 26 years old, Ford signed a four-year rookie contract worth $3.8 million with the Packers after being selected in the seventh round of the 2022 draft. He was initially cut from the 53-man roster but was later re-signed to the practice squad.
During his rookie season, Ford was active for all 17 games but did not see any playing time. Over his five years at the University of Miami, he played in 31 games, recording 60 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, three sacks, and one pass defended.
To date, he has not played in an NFL game.
