The Detroit Lions announced on Tuesday that they have released wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith from injured reserve and re-signed safety Erick Hallett to their practice squad.
Smith, 28, was a third-round pick by the Saints in 2018. He completed the last year of his four-year, $3,277,024 rookie contract, which included an $817,024 signing bonus, before signing a two-year, $6 million deal with New Orleans. After being placed on injured reserve at the end of the 2021 preseason, the Saints eventually waived him with a settlement. He then joined the Broncos’ practice squad and finished the year in Denver.
The Lions signed Smith to a futures contract in January. In 2022, he played in 15 games for the Saints, recording 19 receptions for 278 yards and one touchdown.
