Marcus Jones set up the Patriots with strong field position on their first drive, returning a punt 15 yards to the Seahawks’ 40-yard line. The Patriots’ offense then took eight plays to complete the drive.
New England went up 7-0 after Ja’Lynn Polk caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Jacoby Brissett.
Brissett was perfect on the drive, completing all five of his passes for 49 yards, with tight end Hunter Henry catching three of those for 37 yards, including a 17-yard reception.
Rhamondre Stevenson added 17 rushing yards on four carries.
The Seahawks managed just 7 yards on their opening drive but answered New England’s touchdown with a big play of their own. DK Metcalf hauled in a 56-yard pass from Geno Smith, tying the game 7-7.
Smith was 6-of-7 for 77 yards at this point.
