Green Bay Packers’ starting quarterback Jordan Love hasn’t practiced this week after injuring himself in the opener against the Eagles. Despite this, the team is still hopeful he might play against the Colts on Sunday.
Love is listed as questionable on the injury report, which was updated Friday afternoon. He missed practices on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, but there’s still a chance he could play. Initially, it was expected that Love would be out for three to six weeks due to a sprained MCL, but his questionable status suggests he might return sooner than anticipated, though he may not be ready for this game.
If Love cannot play, Malik Willis, who was acquired from the Tennessee Titans in a trade for a seventh-round pick, will start. Willis, formerly of Liberty, could make his debut as the Packers’ starting quarterback.
Additionally, rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd and second-year receiver Jayden Reed are also listed as questionable. Lloyd missed the opener against the Eagles, while Reed, who had a strong performance in that game, is dealing with a calf/shin issue.
Head coach Matt LaFleur mentioned that if Love is unable to play, Malik Willis will start and Sean Clifford will serve as the backup. Love has not been placed on injured reserve, which could indicate a possibility of an early return.
The Packers are scheduled to face the Colts on Sunday, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
