Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson fumbled a ball, which was then recovered by offensive lineman Joel Bitonio. When Watson tried to help Bitonio up, Bitonio declined the assistance.
This incident led some to speculate about a possible tension between Watson and Bitonio.
However, former Browns offensive lineman Joe Thomas is advising people not to jump to conclusions.
Thomas explained on social media that offensive linemen often struggle to get up on their own due to their size and physicality, making it challenging for them to be assisted by others.
Thomas admitted he doesn’t know the nature of the relationship between Watson and Bitonio, but he suggested that the incident doesn’t necessarily indicate any discord.
It’s also possible Bitonio was simply frustrated given the Browns’ poor performance in the game.
Thomas, who had a successful 11-year career with the Browns, emphasized that while Bitonio is a top offensive lineman, the situation doesn’t reflect any significant issues between the two players.
