Right now, the Green Bay Packers ought to be exploring every avenue for improvement.
Green Bay exceeded expectations and enjoyed a fantastic 2023 season. The Packers were excellent, and Jordan Love, a young quarterback, showed potential. Although Love’s contract problem needs to be resolved, it appears that he will be a long-term member of the Packers.
The Packers have some young weapons for Jordan Love, but there’s been discussion about adding more talent this offseason. Green Bay has even been linked to the San Francisco 49ers in a potential deal for star receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
However, Green Bay doesn’t necessarily need a major trade to improve. There are still viable options in free agency that could help.
One potential target for the Packers is former New Orleans Saints star Michael Thomas. Once considered the best receiver in football, Thomas has been hampered by injuries since 2020. He played in 10 games last season but continued to struggle with injuries.
If Thomas is finally healthy, he could be a solid depth option with significant upside and wouldn’t be too costly. The Packers have ample cap space and could easily afford Thomas. Why not take a chance on him and provide Love with another weapon?
