The New England Patriots offense has undergone significant changes during the recent offseason, but one area that has remained mostly unchanged is their group of running backs.
While they replaced Ezekiel Elliott with Antonio Gibson, the overall composition of the running back room is similar to last season.
In 2023, the Patriots’ rushing performance ranked 26th in the league in terms of yards and touchdowns.
However, there is optimism for improvement in 2024.
Rhamondre Stevenson will be fully healthy after missing five games, and the addition of Gibson could provide a beneficial change of pace.
Despite this, Pro Football Focus ranked the Patriots’ running back group as the 25th best in the league.
They noted that while Stevenson is a solid back with consistent performance, the group’s overall potential is limited, particularly in the passing game where Gibson is expected to contribute.
