Scot pollard, a former kansas star and nba star, was undergoing heart transplant surgery on friday, according to his wife dawn, who spoke to fox40.com in sacramento. Pollard, who played for the sacramento kings for five seasons, was undergoing surgery at vanderbilt university medical center in nashville, tenn. “he’s going to be in the or for a few hours,” pollard said. It’s going to be difficult to recover. “this is just the start,” dawn pollard told fox40.com. Scot pollard, 49, has been hospitalized since being admitted to vanderbilt intensive care on feb. 7.

In march 2021, he was diagnosed with heart disease. Pollard, a 6-foot-11 man, was in need of a transplant due to a genetic disorder that was allegedly triggered by a virus he contracted in 2021. His father, who was 54 years old at the time, died in the same way. “please keep the prayers coming for scot, the surgeons, and his family who lost their loved one,” dawn pollard said on social media. “this donor gave us the most amazing gift of life, and we are forever grateful.” During his four college seasons (1993-97), scot pollard helped kansas to 110-26.

Paul pierce, raef lafrentz, and jacque vaughn were among the center’s teammates, but the jayhawks never reached the final four in any of pollard’s seasons. Pollard has career averages of 9.4 points and 6.6 rebounds in 128 games with the jayhawks before being selected by the detroit pistons in 1997 as a first-round pick (19th overall) and embarking on an 11-season nba career. Pollard played for detroit for one season before joining sacramento in 1998-2003. He also played for the indiana pacers, cleveland cavaliers, and boston celtics. Pollard was a champion ringer when the celtics defeated the los angeles lakers in the 2008 nba finals.During his nba career, he had 4.4 points and 4.6 rebounds in 506 games (99 starts).
