The Buffalo Bills announced on Wednesday, February 14th that they have hired Scott Booker as the team’s nickel coach/assistant defensive head. Booker joined the Bills from the Tennessee Titans and spent six seasons (2018-2023), the last four as the Titans’ defensive safeties coach. As stated in the official Buffalo Bills press release announcing the addition of Scott Booker to the coaching staff:“Booker helped safeties coach Kevin Byard with 20 interceptions and 46 pass breakups during his six seasons at Tennessee. Byard also earned first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors during the 2021 season.
Before joining the Titans as a defensive assistant in 2018, Booker coached in various capacities at the college level for 15 years. Booker’s coaching career began as a graduate assistant with the Kent State football program (2003-04) and was promoted to defensive backs coach for the Golden Flashes (2005-08). In 2009, Booker came to Western Kentucky as the Hilltoppers’ second head coach. overlay-clevercloseLogoScott Booker would then go on to spend the next seven years with Notre Dame’s football program. From 2010-2011, Booker was an offensive intern with Notre Dame.
Booker was then named tight ends coach/special teams coordinator (2012-2016). In 2017, Booker went to Nebraska to serve as the Cornhuskers’ safeties coach/special teams coordinator. Booker, a former college football quarterback, played at Kent State under then-head coach Dean Peace. Booker was a four-year Golden Flash honoree (1999-2002) and was named to the MAC All-Academic team in 2001. Pittsburgh native Scott Booker earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2003 and Master of Science in Sports Science in 2006 (both from Kent State University).
