The New England coach is on his way. Tom Brady compares again.Will Lawing plans to leave last year for Bill O’Brien’s Boston College staff, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. “Source: Boston College hires New England Patriots coach Will Lawing as offensive coordinator,” Thamel tweeted. “He is an experienced coach who worked with Bill O’Brien at New England, Alabama and Houston, where he was the TE coach in 2019 and 2020.”Lowing spent a year on the Patriots staff while former tight ends coach Nick Caley left to join the Rams.
Loving worked with O’Brien for more than a decade, including games with Penn State, Alabama, the Houston Texans and the Patriots. He has been a tight ends coach for most of his career, including experience as an offensive assistant and quality control coach. Lowing served briefly as the offensive coordinator at Division III Juniata College more than a decade ago.
Lowing played college football in the ACC at North Carolina, where he spent time as a wide receiver after earning the position as a walk-on. His father, Brad Lowing, was UNC’s defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator in 2004.The reported departure paves the way for a difficult coach on Jerod Mayo’s staff.
