Bill o’brien left boston college for better pastures. Another member of their coaching staff is now heading to a new club, though in college football. Will lawing will not play for the patriots next season.
According to ESPN’s pete thamel, the team’s former tight end coach will join bill O’Brien in the boston college football program. Jerod mayo will need someone to take over the patriots’ quarterbacking role during the NFL offseason, which is why he’ll need someone to do so.
There are no big names attached to this position, but with robert kraft’s career, they could find someone inside the organization. Going back to will lawing, this departure from the patriots system was not surprising. O’brien was looking for someone he was familiar with to serve as boston college’s offensive coordinator. He had previously worked with someone who was the right one for the job.
Lawing and o’brien had a long-running professional relationship dating back to 2013. before working for bill belichick’s patriots, they were both a part of a larger organization.
Lawing worked for O’Brien as a graduate assistant at penn state. Both players would return to the houston texans, where lawing was once the team’s offensive assistant. Before joining the patriots, they last played in alabama under nick saban.
These two seem to be inseparable. They have, however, contributed greatly to the patriots system. When fall begins, they can presumably advance to a big college football playoff spot.
