Nick Saban, the former alabama head coach and longtime friend of bill Belichick, has revealed the new venture in his post-coaching career. Saban will be the newest member of the college gameday crew, according to ESPN on wednesday.
On saturday, he will join rece davis, lee corso, kirk herbstreit, desmond howard, and pat mcafee on the road to preview the forthcoming slate of games. In addition, he will be a part of espn’s coverage of sec media days and the NFL draft.
As he transitions to the broadcasting side of the game, saban becomes just the newest former coach to trade up the coaching headset for an earpiece and microphone. But ex new england patriots coach belichick isn’t the last one, as many are still curious what the future holds for him. belichick is unemployed after a number of reports indicate he isn’t ready to retire. Belichick’s interest in the atlanta falcons’ starting lineup seemed to have boosted the team, which had fired former coach arthur smith after three straight 7-10 seasons and were apparently planning to take a “big leap” at the 71-year-old.
However, after two official interviews for the position, the falcons decided against hiring the six-time super bowl coach and instead hired former los angeles rams defensive coordinator raheem morris. belichick will have to take the year off from football before pursuing his next role. Belichick’s involvement in the broadcasting industry is also on the line for a season in the future.
