Where is the patriots’ urgency now that the final stage of the nfl draft evaluation process is already underway, as the reese’s senior bowl and the east-west shrine bowl have already concluded? They seem to be content with allowing eliot wolf, their current director of scouting, and matt groh, the director of player personnel, to continue running the scouting team.
After all, as Howe said, those two are in the running to land the job, making them the patriots’ first official general manager since bill parcells’ tenure. so, if the patriots are truly leaning toward adding a “new voice” to the staff department, why not go ahead and give them enough time to complete free agency and the nfl draft? The delay has nothing to do with a lack of interest.
Howe said that the role of general manager in new england is a “attractive” one. The patriots seem to be taking their time to spare it because of the importance of getting the job done right.
