Donovan mcnabb, a philadelphia eagles legend, slammed dallas cowboys owner and general manager jerry jones for making recent remarks about current head coach mike mccarthy, free-agent coach bill belichick, and quarterback dak prescott.
McNabb said on the latest edition of his “the five spot” podcast, ryan morik of fox news digital, that jones’ words following dallas’ 48-32 wild-card playoff loss to the green bay packers were “not really supporting his head coach” or prescott,” according to mcnabb.
That’s not to say that you need a quarterback as the face of your franchise and a quarterback who can handle all of the bullets when it comes to negative talk about the dallas cowboys, mcnabb explained. “he never expressed his full support for dak prescott. “while jones said this week that keeping mccarthy and prescott together was “sense” because of how the signal-caller has performed under his new coach for the past several seasons, the outspoken owner raised eyebrows later when he said he “wouldn’t have any difficulty working with” belichick. Jones said, “we will go as far as dak takes us,” before the owner pointed out that the wild-card loss “is how far we went.” In postseason play, the Mccarthy-prescott duo is now 1-3.
Both mccarthy and prescott are expected to leave the cowboys’ rosters after the 2019 season, but the cowboys are likely to sign the 30-year-old to some sort of extension sooner rather than later to lower his salary-cap hit for 2024.
For belichick, every team that had a head-coaching vacancy from this past fall to thursday gave up on the 71-year-old, but rumors are that belichick could end up with the kansas city chiefs if andy reid retires after super bowl lviii. Reid turns 66 years old in march and is hoping to lead the chiefs to their third super bowl title since february 2020.
