After many delays, fans were excited that head coach Matt LaFleur gave his offensive coordinator some strong comments. While there has been speculation that Ejiro Evero will stay with the Carolina Panthers for a head coaching job or as a defensive coordinator on Dave Canales’ new staff, new research from si.com shows that Evero is still a potential candidate for Matt Lafleur . The rivalry between the Green Bay Packers and the Los Angeles Rams.
Evero is expected to make $3 million a year as the Panthers’ coordinator in 2024, but would be “at or near the top” of the Packers’ and Rams’ short lists for the opportunity to lead the defensive coordinator of Packers. Or Aries. The Rams could improve their chances with Evero becoming a head coach.
Evero declined to be interviewed by the Panthers, and the team expects him to return to lead the defense under Canales, who will be its first head coach. Evero, who was Green Bay’s defensive quality control assistant under Dom Capers in 2016, met with LaFleur during the 2021 recruiting cycle.
Joe Barry was the Packers’ quarterback and Evero was promoted to Los Angeles, where they won a Super Bowl, and later helped coordinate the Denver Broncos’ 2022 defense and the Panthers’ 2023 defense. Evero ranks in the top 10 in yards allowed behind the Broncos and Panthers. Barry was fired by the Packers last week after three years as the coordinator. Evero spent five years with the Rams, four as safeties coach (2017-2020) and five as assistant coach and passing game coordinator. In Los Angeles, he worked for Wade Phillips and Brandon Staley. Coach Vic Fangio was Evero’s first influence in the NFL.Evero will likely follow a similar path with a move away from Barry after 2024.
During the regular season, Lafleur said Evero followed a “really good strategy” and did “a great job” with the Broncos and Panthers. “He has great communication skills, is demanding and holds people accountable,” he said. Before playing for the Panthers, Lafleur said last December that he was very impressed with what he accomplished.
