The firing of Joe Barry wasn’t the only coaching staff move the Green Bay Packers made on Wednesday.
Head coach Matt LaFleur also parted ways with strength and conditioning coordinator Chris Gizzi.Gizzi has been with the Packers since 2014.
He was originally a strength and conditioning assistant. He was promoted to coordinator in 2019 when Matt LaFleur took over as head coach.
He played for the Packers in 2000 and 2001, capping his four-year NFL career. He previously spent time with the Denver Broncos. Gizzi began his football coaching career as a strength and conditioning assistant at North Carolina State in 2013. A year later, he was hired by the Packers. 2019 had some interesting moves for LaFleu.
The Packers switched positions, making Gizzi the coordinator and Mark Lovatt the assistant. Lovat is also part of the technical staff. It’s unclear if a new strength and conditioning coordinator will be hired from the outside or if LaFleur will promote one of his assistants.Â
