Jim Nagy, a longtime NFL scout and current senior bowl executive director, has seen his fair share of football stars before they became famous or infamous.
Nagy wonders what makes mack jones’ pro career so difficult: in either case, the new england patriots quarterback fits into both groups. The good times, especially the season in which he became tom brady’s rightful heir to the throne, are now a distant memory.
Nagy said to weei’s gersh and fauria that jones was partly responsible for his slump, which saw him play the final six games of what is likely to be his third and final season in foxborough. “from the outside, you look like a real gym rat, a football fan, and there aren’t many people like that right now.” Nagy said, “how did it fall?”… so, should he go elsewhere and resurrect his career? Please tell me what has happened in the last two years. New england is starting anew with a new head coach, and it seems like new players are joining the league and playing as mac… “mac jones is not responsible for what happened there,” he said. Offensive coordinator…and of course, a new franchise quarterback.
The patriots will be looking forward to the forthcoming senior bowl on feb. 3, as they may be searching for jones’ replacement quarterback. Jones was one of the top prospects at mobile expo 2021, though he didn’t appear in the game itself (along with future patriot ramondre stevenson), the patriots used the 15th pick in the upcoming draft due to a good practice. Trevor lawrence (jacksonville), jack wilson (new york jets), trey lance (san francisco) and justin fields (chicago) were all selected as the fifth quarterback.
In the spring, new england was selected as the third overall pick. Sam hartman (notre dame), joe milton iii (tennessee), bo nix (oregon), and michael penix (washington) were among the notable prospects in nagy’s showcase. The 2024 nfl draft will be held in detroit on april 25-27.
