Bill Belichick, expected to be the hottest free agent on the head coaching market, has spoken with only one team since parting ways with the New England Patriots.
The Atlanta Falcons have spoken to Belichick twice about the head coaching vacancy, but according to NBC Sports’ Peter King, the team is now putting the brakes on Belichick’s pursuit. “The Falcons need to think, ‘If we think so highly of Belichick, why aren’t other teams doing the same?’” King wrote. “He hasn’t given another interview, at least as far as we know. Strange. The Coach buying team doesn’t think it’s a good idea to hire a 72-year-old any time soon, regardless of his resume.
