Coach Jerod Mayo of the new england patriots is always looking for fresh faces to replace him.
The patriots searched for special teams on saturday, according to ESPN. thomas mcgaughey, the former new york giants special teams coordinator, was hired by the patriots for the same position. Along with brian daboll, joe judge, and pat Shurmur, the giants’ 2018 special teams coordinator is Mcgaughey.
After a disappointing 6-11 season in new york, he was fired along with several other coaches earlier this month. The giants finished the 2023 season 21st in dvoa and 24th in rick Gosselin’s annual special teams rankings, according to Mcgaughey’s squad. This was after attending lsu at the collegiate level for three years from 2011 to 2013.
Cgaughey previously worked as the special teams coordinator for the panthers, 49ers, jets, and texans. he is the third candidate for a special teams position on mayo’s new staff.
