Bill Belichick is in an incredibly difficult situation, according to some pundits and supporters.
Six super bowl titles as a head coach should speak for itself, but Tom Brady’s bleak conclusion with the new England patriots has cast a pall over his prospects for success in the NFL.
Rob Gronkowski, one of his most well-known and best players, isn’t completely convinced. “i think, 100%,” the patriots legend and future hall of fame tight end told tmz sports, “i think he’s still the great bill belichick.”
Belichick’s skepticism is not based on his age (he will turn 72 in april), but rather on his substandard resume before and after tom brady (84-103 with two playoff appearances).
Many believe the curtain has been pulled back and the genius has been revealed, a la the “wizard of oz.” Gronk does not agree with that theory, though, and attributes Belichick with having the best football mind of any man he has ever encountered. However, individual brilliance isn’t enough to overcome a deficit of talent.
