Harvey Elliott boasts some impressive stats in 2023. 2024 could be a bright year for the Liverpool midfielder.
Any Liverpool fan will agree that Harvey Elliott has been fantastic this season. He has contributed to important wins and is one of the most creative players at the club, and the Reds look great with him on the pitch. They rarely play at the same time. Elliott has technically played in 16 games but has made two Premier League starts this season.
Adding up all the times, he ran the equivalent of 4.6 90 seconds. But what Elliott has accomplished in four and a half years is amazing. He averages the most passes per 90 minutes of any player in the Premier League. He finished in the top three, making it to the bottom third.
The 20-year-old is Liverpool’s sixth top scorer. He is good at solving things. All this is specific to this season. If you compare Elliot in 2023 to other midfielders in Europe, his stats look impressive. Elliot will finish 2023 in the 99th percentile among the top five midfielders in Europe for both passes and tackles in the box.
He ranks in the 98th percentile in passing yards, passing touchdowns and offensive third downs. The midfielder ranks in the 97th percentile in terms of goal percentage and expected assists. Progressive ranks 96th, touchdowns rank 95th and carries 3rd!Of course, these statistics were chosen with care. We’ll show Elliott what he’s got. But no one can look at that and deny that he has the makings of an attacking midfielder.Elliott is excellent at both passing and moving the ball.
He excels in the box, makes tackles and is always involved in training when he is on the pitch. What more could you ask for from a 20-year-old? In total, that data includes 1,722 minutes for Elliott in 2023, or the equivalent of about 19 full games. In fact, the sample size is large enough for Elliott to say that’s a good thing. This is the time for Liverpool to stop it. Of course we mean this in the nicest possible way, but Jurgen Klopp will no doubt keep Elliott on the bench more often.
However, without Mo Salah in 2024, his playing time could increase significantly. If he does that — and he’s still tied in key metrics — 2024 will be a stellar year for Elliott. He can consistently accomplish extremely difficult tasks in a way that very few players can. We could be looking at a superstar when Liverpool really release him
