The biggest shock; Green Bay Packers Key Player Announces An Unexpected Retirement

He was was 36 years old, but looked like he had just graduated from college. The ageless defender not only played, but played well.(Tramon Willians).

The Packers were preparing for a divisional playoff game against the Seahawks two seasons ago, and Williams destroyed Father Time after the regular season and proved the Packers are willing to bring him back before the 2018 season. I’m about to go to another trip on a two-year contract.Tramon is a legend,” said Za’Darius Smith, then a Packers tight end who played for Williams for one season. “He’s 36 years old. He doesn’t play like that,” quarterback Preston Smith added. “He’s playing like he’s 20 here.”Named one of Pro Football Focus’ best cornerbacks before the 2019 season, Williams’ ranking doesn’t fully reflect his legend in Green Bay.

Williams, an undrafted free agent out of Louisiana Tech who originally signed with the Texans, was first signed to the Packers’ practice squad in late November 2006, making him one of the most impressive signings of his 13 seasons Ted Thompson as head coach. Williams was a mainstay in the green and gold for a decade, a key contributor to the Super Bowl championship and filling in for Charles Woodson and Al Harris on the depth chart. On Tuesday, when he turned 38, the longtime Packers Hall of Famer who wore No. 38 announced his retirement after 14 seasons in the NFL, 10 of them in Green Bay.”I would like to congratulate Tramon, a true professional, on a successful career with individual accomplishments and outstanding contributions to the team’s success,” general manager Brian Gutekunst said in a statement. “He was a talented, humble and hard-working player and a great teammate on and off the court.

We wish him, his wife Chantrell and their family the best of luck.”The best thing about Williams’ career in Green Bay, which included stints in Cleveland and Arizona, is that his physical prowess for a physically demanding position never wavered. Take a look at some of his most notable games in a Packers uniform. His six-play, 70-yard performance against the Falcons in the 2010 divisional round gave Green Bay a 27-14 halftime lead in Atlanta. Williams was 27 at the time, and the game-changing interception was one of the defining moments of a game that ended with a Super Bowl ring.

He is one of the most athletic men I have ever seen. There have been some important playoff games over the years. Think back to the 2010 game that ended in Philly. (He) basically gave us a big shot in the divisional round (against Atlanta) with a pick-six. One of my favorite moments is when he steals the ball and scores 14 points with Nick Collins on the break.

That’s why it’s interesting. “I wish I could do this every year.”Williams was active but unable to play against the Buccaneers, but it was fitting that he put on his jersey one last time in the private locker room at Lambeau Field. He might have played into his 40s, but the tough guy who wore No. 38 and recorded 38 career assists deserved a symbolic send-off on his 38th birthday. “Thank you to the Green Bay Packers, the greatest organization in the NFL, for making a pure sports kid’s dream come true,” Williams tweeted. “Thank you to the late, great Ted Thompson for recognizing the value of undrafted free agents.

Alonzo Highsmith, or rather, thank you for going out of your way to find me and enter. “Thank you to Mark Murphy and Russ Ball for always acting with integrity.

To my brother Joe Witt: Thank you for believing in me no matter what! That means a lot! I would like to thank all my teammates and coaches over the years. I love each and every one of you. I would like to thank Flea and the training staff for helping me stay in the field throughout my career. To the best fans in the world: Thank you for supporting me through the good times and the bad.

This is the true definition of a loyal fan base. “Thank you Guta for having me back and allowing me to complete this journey wearing the green and yellow 38 jersey! It means the world to me! No matter what sweater I wear, I always wear a G! #38 comes in 38!”
