Liverpool are currently in the hunt for Ajax youngster Divine Rensch.
A 20-year-old was able to solve his problem once. Liverpool are one of the few teams interested in Ajax defender Devin Rensch, according to CBS Sports.
The newspaper listed him as a possible signing for Arsenal before naming the Reds and Manchester United as rivals for his signature. Rensch is a 20-year-old defender who currently plays for Ajax.
As expected, he progressed through the youth academy and became a senior regular. This always makes the player a target. Liverpool already have an Ajax graduate in their squad, with Ryan Gravenberch moving to Anfield this summer.Rench is especially noticeable in January, because it solves several problems at once.
Rensch’s biggest draw is his ability to play multiple positions at a young age. This is a quality usually associated with veterans, meaning players with experience in a variety of roles.But Rensch is still doing it at 20. This season he played as a right back, center back and midfielder for Ajax.
All three are problematic positions for Liverpool. It is most natural to protect the middle defense. The Reds failed to land their top target this summer and signed Wataru Endo from Stuttgart.
There was always the feeling that he would recover by January, but the Japan international has shown himself since then. This is why Liverpool want to replace Endo in midfield. Rensch can do it. He managed to do this by supporting Trent Alexander-Arnold on the right flank. Liverpool need cover here as they want the Scouser to play as a midfielder, but their main cover, Joe Gomez, is currently positioned at left-back.
Rensch was here to help again. Liverpool also need extra numbers at centre-back after Joel Matip is ruled out for the season. Guess what? Rensch also knows how to play the position. The club can then consider answering his January prayers. Although there are no signs that a move is imminent, Rensch is certainly a player for Liverpool fans.
