Darwin nunez hasn’t scored in a liverpool shirt in ten games.
Last week, i voiced my dissatisfaction with nunez’s inability to remain onside, and during the manchester united match, the same problem surfaced at anfield.
nunez’s biggest problem was not this, but rather the fact that he had a chance after luis diaz was saved by onana and then stopped to appeal for a penalty rather than shooting. In that situation, it was just ridiculous to do. As a child, you are taught to play to the whistle, and nunez’s liveliest moment of the game came when he was given a warning from the referee, which is not good when you’re the one leading the charge and expected to deliver big moments.
He has zero confidence at the moment and is in dire need of a boost. i have previously stated that i don’t think his style is necessarily appropriate, but i do hope he has a long-term future at the club. Nunez doesn’t look right; dominik szoboszlai is having a rough time at the moment. He started the season in a great shape, but his form has deteriorated dramatically since late sunday’s anfield atmosphere. there’s no way to get out of that. It was great in the first five or ten minutes of the match, but it just died shortly after.
When the performance gives you a reason to shout, you may hear the fans screaming, but that shouldn’t be the case. Regardless of what happens on the field, you’ve got to be up for it. We have two big home games coming up this week against west ham and arsenal, and we need everyone on the field to do their part. In the second round, there are always goals, so i expect it to be a lively match at anfield.
