Liverpool ended Manchester City’s impressive run at the Etihad Stadium.Pep Guardiola’s side were denied a 24th win last weekend as their current Premier League rivals were held to a 1-1 draw.
As a result, City missed out on the chance to make history by equaling Sunderland’s 24 consecutive home wins between December 1890 and April 1892, a record that stood for 131 years. Kopites were delighted to see Liverpool pick up a point at the Etihad.

However, he has struggled for opportunities in the second half of the 2022/23 season and has seen just 10 minutes of Premier League action since November. When it was announced that Carvalho would be moving to Leipzig temporarily, there was a huge response. The 21-year-old joins a team that regularly competes at the Bundesliga’s top level and has also featured in the Champions League. He also played in the team where Liverpool signed Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Therefore, a successful loan would help him join Liverpool. But so far he is in stark contrast to Carvalho of Saxony. The former Portugal U21 international has appeared on the sidelines in just 11 games so far. He made a seven-minute cameo in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Wolfsburg after being an unused substitute in the last two games.
As January approaches, Liverpool may have to make a decision on Carvalho’s future if a buy-back clause is included in the deal. But the winter transfer window is still a month away and there are six games against City in Leipzig before then, and Carvalho will be looking to pick up a point.
