Liverpool striker hasĀ been slammed by pundit Garth Crooks for his performance in last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City.
The Uruguayan footballer failed to make a positive impact for the team in their exciting match against Manchester City.
The highlight came when he tried to accommodate City manager Pep Guardiola after the game. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was quick to tease Nunes, but Crooks was unimpressed with the way the former Benfica man treated him and said he needs to focus more on improving his finishing ability.
“It was a good performance from Liverpool against Manchester City, although Darwin Nunes did his best to spoil it,” wrote Crooks in his BBC Sport column. “Núñez should spend his time arguing with the opposing coach and focusing on why he’s not scoring more goals instead of being frustrated.”Nunes has been hot and cold since joining LFC last year, providing some great moments but also proving somewhat erratic in front of goal and inconsistent with his performances.
There is no doubt a talented player in there somewhere, but it would be nice if Nunes calmed down a bit and let his football speak for itself, where there is room for him to improve his contribution on the pitch for the Reds.
