Liverpool midfielder is a January transfer target for Barcelona as they look to sign a short-term deal to fill the void left by the injured Gabi.
According to Spanish newspaper Todo Fichajes, Alcantara is available at a bargain price, with Liverpool only asking €5-7m for the experienced midfielder.
Thiago is no longer a regular at Liverpool but would be a perfect fit for the job at Barcelona in Gabi’s absence.The 32-year-old began his career at Barcelona, progressing through the youth ranks before making 101 first-team appearances, but was rarely an automatic starter.
This led Alcantara to Bayern, where he spent some time. It was his best year, but he also had some great moments in a Liverpool shirt. LFC fans may have mixed feelings about Thiago’s release, but the move makes sense for all parties involved as he could soon be playing more for Barcelona than he did at Anfield.
