Liverpool youngster Trey Nyoni put in a very impressive performance on his senior debut this week. The 16-year-old boy looks special. Trey Nyoni made his first senior appearance this week as Liverpool Under-21s took on Barrow in the Papa John Trophy.
Unfortunately, the Reds lost the match 2-1, but the supporters had reason to be excited. One of them was Mateusz Musialowski, who scored an incredible goal for the Reds. Of course, anyone who has followed his burgeoning career knows he can do that. But Nyoni, 16, who joined from Leicester City in the summer, has also caught the eye. Nyoni started in midfield here and his post match stats were very impressive.
Nyoni has won more fights than anyone else on the court (4), winning five out of six matches. It wasn’t just a defense. The teenager created two chances with his passes. All this is much more than the boy expected in his first senior game. Not to mention someone who hasn’t been in Liverpool’s system for long.
But Nyoni soon proved to be an observant person. Despite his age, he will play for Manchester United’s Under-21 side after making his debut for West Ham United last weekend. Now he shows that he can hold his own against the mature players.
Don’t be surprised if you hear the name Nyoni in the first team recently. This year may come too soon, but what about next season? If things continue like this, he will also impress in the Carabao Cup.Liverpool have shown that youngsters deserve a chance. Staying in the first team is another story. Few have made it, but Nyoni shows he is well on his way. If he can do that in a high-profile #1 match, we can’t wait to see what he does next.
