Caoimhin Kelleher is delighted with Jurgen Klopp’s decision to stay at Liverpool this season.
The goalkeeper is still second choice at Anfield. Caoimhin Kelleher really made a name for himself in 2022. He shone in the Carabao Cup final as Liverpool lifted the trophy.
This will definitely justify it. Since then, he has made several appearances for the first team in the Premier League and Champions League. Everything looked good until last season.Kelleher played just three games in the 2022/2023 season. Once in the Premier League and twice in the Carabao Cup, that’s it. 301 minutes of football. This may seem disastrous for the Irish. He is no longer a particularly young player, turning 25 later this month, but his stock has fallen due to a lack of football.
Fortunately, Liverpool have used Kelleher more this season. He could be the biggest beneficiary of Europa League qualification this season. In fact, the goalkeeper has more games and playing time than last season.
Kelleher is slowly trying to rebuild that reputation and has a chance to do so this season. It’s unclear what his long-term future holds. It may go higher next year. But now he is Liverpool’s capable goalkeeper in the Europa League and someone who could contribute to another successful cup run.
