Graeme Souness, a former Liverpool player, has attacked the Saudi Pro League.
The former midfielder and manager for the Reds claimed that the Saudi premier league’s current standard is so low that he could play there.
He also mentioned that, recently, less than a thousand people showed out to witness players like Jordan Henderson play for Al-Ettifaq.
“I spent a week in Portugal last week and was in the gym every day, sometimes watching Portuguese television carrying games from the Saudi league,” he wrote in his Daily Mail column.
“That experience made it easier for me to understand why only 696 people attended the home loss of Jordan Henderson’s Al-Ettifaq club.
“I must admit that the games were challenging.
were tough to watch, and I found myself thinking, “I could play central midfield for 30 minutes as an aging player in that football team. I’m making myself available.”
