Paul Merson sees a significant improvement in Darwin Nunez’s overall performance for the 2023/24 season. The Sky Sports pundit pointed to the Uruguayan’s poor decision-making last season to highlight that fact and said the striker is “showing his class now”.
Darwin Nunez scored a superb goal against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup and has shown his level this season,” the former Arsenal star wrote in his column for Sportskeeda. “Last year his decision-making wasn’t as good and he didn’t put his head down enough to find his teammates, but now he looks a lot more confident.”The Uruguayan has shown it in his numbers, scoring 12 goals in 14 games in all competitions. For context, Nunez was just 7 goals shy of last season’s total (19 goals).
Note that this is almost a third (42) of the games he played or a quarter (675) of the minutes logged (2,365). It also looks like our number 9’s ability to press, dribble and hold up play has changed and improved… oh my!The scary part is that Darwin Nunes still has a lot of potential to achieve. Thank God he will do it under Jurgen Klopp.
