Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch was right to turn down a Dutch youth call-up and should at least be in Ronald Koeman’s provisional squad.These are the words of journalist Mike Berwezzi, who supports the Liverpool midfielder’s decision and believes Koeman is wrong to ignore him.
Gravenberch was left out of the Netherlands squad for the last internationals after refusing to play for the Netherlands Juniors earlier this year.He turned down the chance to make the squad after joining the Reds from Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window, saying he preferred to stay at Liverpool and adapt to his new club.
This did not go down well with Koeman and his team, who subsequently ignored the player and opted for other options, including a longer reserve list ahead of the international break.
This is still true, but Verwey is surprised by the situation and stands by his original decision to decline Gravenberch’s invitation. “I don’t think Gravenberch will be there. “I was really surprised,” he said. “Ronald Koeman is a real manager of people.
