BBC pundit Garth Crooks paid tribute to the Newcastle defender’s passing ability after he was named in Kieran Trippier’s Team of the Week.
The 33-year-old produced a superb performance for Jacob Murphy at the weekend, netting for the Magpies against Crystal Palace. Crooks said:“Kieran Trippier’s pass to Jacob Murphy was brilliant. “The Newcastle captain can deliver the ball better than anyone in the Premier League.” Tripper’s assist on Murphy was his seventh of the season across all competitions. Considering he had 10 hits last season, he has reached that number. He’s about to wake up upstairs. When Newcastle take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League this week, fans will be hoping he can continue to score for his team-mates against the Bundesliga giants.
Trip pier is in the form of his lifeSince joining the Magpies in January 2022, Trippier has averaged a goal or assist every 3.15 games, an impressive rate for a right-back. The specialist scored alongside Guglielmo Vicario. The Italian has impressed since becoming Tottenham’s No.1 player at the start of the season.Trippier is joined in defense by Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk (who helped keep a clean sheet in the Merseyside derby) and Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot (who scored in the team’s win against Sheffield United). Arsenal’s Declan Rice, Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, Tottenham’s James Maddison and Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku make up the midfield four. For the forward line, Crooks chose Brentford’s Brian Mbomu, Liverpool’s Mo Salah and City’s Erling Haaland.
