In the 243rd Merseyside Derby on Saturday at Anfield, Liverpool and Everton were separated by Mohamed Salah’s second-half double.
Liverpool will have been happy to have avoided any new injuries or suspensions during a competitive match between both clubs on Saturday across Stanley Park in addition to the three points at Anfield.
It is unlikely that Liverpool will be able to use Andy Robertson’s talents until 2024 after he suffered a shoulder injury while serving as a Scotland international earlier this month.
In his pre-Everton press conference on Friday, Klopp stated that it had been agreed, following consultation with a number of medical professionals, that the left-back will have surgery to repair his dislocated shoulder.
Kostas Tsimikas started his first Premier League game of the year in Saturday’s Merseyside derby victory, and the Greek international is now expected to spend a significant amount of time with Liverpool’s first squad.
Date of anticipated return: January 2024
Gakpo, Cody
Cody Gakpo, who suffered a leg injury against Tottenham Hotspur, returned to training last week, which was a more encouraging picture at the AXA Training Centre.
On September 30, after the 2-1 loss to the North Londoners, the Dutchman was substituted just before tying the score. He was later seen leaving the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with his leg in a brace. Gakpo was forced to stay on Merseyside to recover from his injury, which prevented him from attending Holland’s international matches in October.
The attacker, however, participated in training on Friday and might be ready to make his comeback before the week’s end against Toulouse or Nottingham Forest.
Date of anticipated return: October 26
Thiago
Although the midfielder has yet to play for Liverpool this year, there is no estimated time frame for Thiago Alcantara’s return to full fitness.
According to Klopp, the Spaniard, whose last game for the Reds was in April, experienced a setback in his recuperation last month. No specific date for his return to action, though, has been disclosed.
Date of anticipated return: Unknown
Bajcetic Stefan
Similar to Thiago, Stefan Bajcetic has not been given a timetable for when he will be able to resume playing after suffering a minor calf injury last month.
Even though Curtis Jones was sent off against Tottenham last month, he will be available for Liverpool’s Europa League matchup against Toulouse on Thursday.
