During Portugal’s international matches in October, Goncalo Inacio was observed by Liverpool.

Liverpool sent scouts to observe defender Goncalo Inacio during Portugal’s crushing 5-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In his fourth appearance for Portugal, the 22-year-old scored an assist and helped his country keep a clean sheet in the crucial victory against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday night during their Euro 2024 qualifying match. Inacio had already scored a brace in the 9-0 victory over Luxembourg during the September internationals, making this assist his third goal-related contribution in four appearances.

The center-back has excelled with Sporting CP ever since making the first team during the 2020–21 season, in addition to shining at the international level. Having played 129 times for his childhood club, Inacio has established himself as a key member of Ruben Amorim’s team. Sources tell 90min that Liverpool has been keeping an eye on Inacio’s development for well over a year and most recently dispatched scouts to watch the player play during the victory away at Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is one of many center backs Liverpool is rumored to be interested in, according to reports from the past few months.

The Reds are currently searching for potential long-term replacements for Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk, who are both 32 and appear to be past their prime at this point. Lucas Beraldo, a center back for Sao Paulo, is also a player in which Liverpool is very interested. The Brazil Under-20 international has emerged as one of the region’s top young defenders in recent months, having contributed to his team’s Copa do Brasil victory by starting in the middle of the defense during both halves of the final match against Flamengo.

Liverpool looked into Giorgio Scalvini of Italy and Antonio Silva of Portugal in September. Because they were two of the most sought-after “wonderkids” in the most recent version of the game, both of these young defenders will be well-known to FM23 players.

However, it’s understood that Manchester United is also interested in Silva and Scalvini, and the two talented center-backs are being scouted by them during the September international break. Liverpool recently kept a close eye on the center-back options as well as Pedro Neto during Portugal’s victory over

Bosnia and Herzegovina. The wide player, who came on as a substitute for Portugal in the victory, has been one of the Premier League’s top performers over the past month, garnering praise for his displays for Wolves. Notably, Neto’s recent play has caught the attention of Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Atletico Madrid, the first two of which have been Neto’s “long-term admirers.”.
