Liverpool are seeking a world-class winger to take Mohamed Salah’s place, who has ties to Saudi Arabia.
Following Saudi Arabia’s tenacious pursuit of Mohamed Salah this summer, Liverpool has been searching the market for a player of a comparable caliber who can transfer to Anfield and take the place of the star winger. The Reds rejected a massive £150 million offer for the 31-year-old player, claiming that Al-Ittihad had exhausted all possibilities to bring him to the Pro League and that he was therefore absolutely not for sale. Salah appears to be staying with Liverpool through the 2023–24 season, but there is much speculation about his potential departure after the season.
According to a number of reports, Salah will relocate to Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2018. As a result, Jurgen Klopp faces a monumental challenge in finding Salah’s replacement. The few players who can compete with Salah on the field will be very difficult to pry away from their clubs. But after Liverpool expressed interest in Leroy Sané of Bayern Munich, there has been an update.
The Bundesliga club is attempting to sign the German international because they think the Reds have a “strong interest” in him. Sané has reportedly become Anfield’s top target, and Bild claims that the 27-year-old is prepared to make a “fundamental decision” about his future. If Sané decides not to sign a new contract with Bayern, the club will need to prioritize a sale before it is too late for Sané’s current deal to expire in 2025. Sané, however, is not thought to have had any contract negotiations with club officials, but that is expected to change as they are keen to keep him.
Klopp and co. are said to view Sané as the ‘best possible successor’ to Salah, and the lure of returning to the Premier League may be enough to sway the German. Fireworks have already started to fly around this transfer link, but for now, it’s all a waiting game.
