Kevin Prince-Boateng, a former Borussia Dortmund loanee, has shared an emotional anecdote about his relationship with Jurgen Klopp.

When it became evident that Boateng couldn’t make his loan move permanent in 2009, they both sobbed over the phone.
Boateng left Tottenham Hotspur in January 2009 to join Borussia Dortmund after a trying time there.
You could already see how powerful Klopp was, you know, Prince-Boateng remarked in an interview with Rio Ferdinand for the FIVE podcast. He adored me and offered me to his home, but I never went because, you know, it can be a little tricky in the dressing room.
When I once went drinking with his son, he came to me the next day and asked, “What have you done to my son?” He wants to imbibe like a big guy, I exclaimed. This person slept in the bathroom, he declared.
He was a key player in my profession, but things didn’t work out. He personally called me and said, “We don’t have the money to buy you. On the phone, we sobbed together. I cried like crazy.
Boateng had a beneficial impact despite serving a ban near the end of his loan period, which helped Dortmund finish sixth in Klopp’s first season in charge.
Boateng also lauded Klopp’s great man-management abilities as he reflected on their time together.
Although he was unable to obtain a long-term transfer to Dortmund, his friendship with Klopp remained unshakeable.
