Jurgen Klopp claims his remarks calling for a repeat of Liverpool’s contentious loss to Tottenham were exaggerated and misunderstood, and the German is eager to move on.

Luis Diaz’s first-half goal for the Merseysiders was wrongly disallowed for offside in north London on Saturday due to a mix-up between the on-field officials and VAR crew.

VAR Darren When play resumed with a free-kick to Spurs, England inadvertently communicated a ‘check complete’ communication to on-pitch referee Simon Hooper, thinking the goal had been awarded. As a result, they were no longer able to step in and stop the goal from happening.

Before their Europa League encounter against Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday night, which they easily won 2-0, Klopp made headlines at his pre-match news conference when he appeared to ask for

However, Klopp has since clarified that he wasn’t calling for a replay and that his words were misinterpreted. He also maintains that the entire Liverpool team has already moved past the VAR fiasco.

At the news conference following the game, Klopp stated: “I knew it would be difficult when I spoke about the other game yesterday.” I knew. And once more, you all demonstrated to me how things really are in the world.

“I believe everyone in this room heard what I said, but everyone clearly understood something different!” But it’s alright!

“If yesterday I gave the impression that I was still in the match against Tottenham, I was not at all. That was in the past. it’s okay; we are past it now.

We are not kids or anything, he continued. We only had a few questions to address, so we did.

In his pre-game interview with TNT Sports, Klopp made a similar reference to his remarks. He said: “I think with the headlines unintentionally I created and with the press conference, I’m completely over it, it’s nothing so we don’t have it in our mind.”

It can be challenging to put something out of your mind; you open it and realize, “Oh, it’s still there, but we have nothing to do with it anymore.”
