After West Ham’s 3-1 loss to Liverpool on Sunday, Michail Antonio has taken the full weight of the jeers.
The Hammers striker received some criticism from Reds supporters on social media.
Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, and Diogo Jota scored for Liverpool in their confident victory over the London team, while Jarrod Bowen netted the lone goal for West Ham to continue their impressive start to the season.
However, some of the focus was on Antonio and specifically what the forward had said before to the Premier League match.
Before the game, Antonio riled up some spectators with his remarks. “You know what, I think we are going to finish higher than Liverpool this season,” he stated of West Ham’s chances. “I’m making it known. This weekend, we have them, and it’s a six-pointer. We have them.
Many Liverpool supporters found this annoying online, and they quickly reminded Antonio that the team was still strong despite their dismal season before.
