Prior to the start of another season in the top division, Matt Beard, the manager of Liverpool Women, has extended his contract with the organization.
After leading the team to back-to-back league victories in 2013 and 2014, Beard has been in charge of Liverpool Women from the start of the 2021–2022 season.
The 45-year-old assisted in guiding the team back into the Women’s Super League and helped them finish eighth in their inaugural season, which they will now want to improve on.
Just eight days before the Reds’ season-opening match at Arsenal, after a remarkable two weeks since the women’s team moved into Melwood, Beard’s new contract was officially announced.
I’m thrilled. It was really an easy decision for me to prolong my stay here since obviously everyone understands what the club means to me,” Beard told the club.
Seven new players have joined Liverpool Women this offseason, providing the squad a fresh look overall but especially in attack with the additions of Natasha Flint, Sophie Roman Haug, and Mia Enderby.
With 24 league goals totaled in 2022–23, the fourth-fewest in the division, the Reds need to improve in this area going into the upcoming season.
Over 40,000 tickets have already been sold for Liverpool vs. Arsenal on October 1 at the Emirates, where the season begins for Liverpool.
