During concerns from Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, during this week’s Europa League match, Austrian team LASK has acknowledged that they will be improving their surface.
According to Volksblatt, they published a statement from the club in response to Klopp’s extremely vocal criticisms.
Earlier this week, Liverpool defeated the Austrian team 3-1, coming back from a goal down to earn all three points and officially begin their Europa League campaign.
While the Reds and Klopp were mainly happy after the game, he was quick to criticize the condition of the field in his post-game remarks.
In interviews with different broadcasters, he lauded the stadium and the atmosphere but bemoaned the surface, describing it as more like a meadow than a football field and warning that it would quickly become dangerous.
This did not originally sit well with the populace, and LASK manager Thomas Sageder responded by accusing the Liverpool manager of being overly sentimental about it.
His club appears to agree, however, as they admitted in a statement that they are organizing efforts to address the problem.
Their statement read, “It is a construction flaw in the substructure.”
“This interferes with the location’s drainage system. We are aware of the problem, but it cannot be resolved in a single day because progress can only be made incrementally.
