Although there are millions of Liverpool FC supporters worldwide, not all of them are as fascinating as this one.
Most people will recognize Pete Boc from his “Darwin, Darwin Nunez” chant from last year. Since then, the ardent Liverpool FC supporter has been a regular on social media for his club-related chants and videos, but few are aware that Pete, who grew up in Wallasey close to Belvidere Field, first supported Premier League rivals Manchester United.
In an interview with the ECHO this week, Pete discussed how, until he was old enough to know better, he “followed in his father’s and his grandfather’s footsteps” in supporting United. It was the Merseyside environment, where everyone I went to school with supported either Everton or Liverpool, the man claimed.I don’t know how old I was, but I remember reaching a point in primary school when I thought, “Why do we support United? This makes no sense at all.” I haven’t gone to Old Trafford before. I just supported the team because my father supported it.
Being a Liverpool supporter in the late 1990s and early 2000s was incredible, as stated. I would frequently attend games, and for a little period of time I even worked at one of the pubs at Anfield.
A little-known truth about Pete is that he started his TikTok account during the initial lockdown only for the amusement of his coworkers. Pete came to Bristol roughly ten years ago. “Many people were playing online games with their coworkers,” he claimed. For whatever reason, we made the decision to participate in humorous video challenges, such as “recreate your favorite TV commercial.” That was our small act of kindness.
