For Liverpool’s under-18 team, Jayden Danns scored once again, but Trey Nyoni scored the game-winning goal in the 96th minute of the mini-Merseyside derby!
The mini-Merseyside rivalry between Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s Liverpool and Leighton Baines’ Everton was a much anticipated match for the young Reds.

Everton’s advantage did not last for long as the in-form Danns scored an instant equalizer, which was made possible by Ranel Young’s tenacious pursuit of the ball inside the penalty area.
Momentum turned in Liverpool’s favor, but the quick start brought pressure, and a late tackle on goalkeeper Kornel Misciur forced his early withdrawal with an ankle injury. That makes 17-year-old Danns’ total of seven goals in six games.
Reece Trueman, the starting midfielder’s brother and the U18 team’s training ‘keeper, entered the Liverpool goal to make his debut in a heartwarming tale.
Afolami Onanuga, Nyoni, and Danns all had opportunities throughout the first half, but the latter’s dubious offside decision prevented Liverpool from taking the lead.
At all levels, Liverpool enjoys sticking a last-second dagger in Everton’s heart.
With the victory, Liverpool now has 12 points from its first five league games. They will next play on Saturday when they host Sunderland.
