Jarrod Bowen has been listed as a doubt for West Ham’s matchup with Liverpool this weekend by boss David Moyes.
The forward was not present as they defeated Backa Topola 3-1 in the Europa League Friday night at the London Stadium following a comeback.
Given that he has three goals and one assist so far this season, Bowen has been in fantastic form and his absence would be crucial for the Hammers.
In his news conference today, Moyes provided an update on Bowen and Aaron Cresswell: “The others, we appear good. Jarrod Bowen has got a virus so we’ll need to see how he is. We’re fine, save that Aaron Cresswell felt his hamstring last night; we’ll see how he feels today.
Bowen has made 51 consecutive Premier League matches, so if he were to miss the trip to Anfield, it would be quite a milestone.
The West Ham manager also commented on Liverpool’s tenacity thus far this season, having seen his team come from behind to defeat LASK last night. He is fully aware of the monumental task that before him and his team this weekend.
“Some teams have gotten ahead of Liverpool, but Liverpool have pinned them back,” said Moyes. It’s a large, difficult game. At Anfield, the stadium and the crowd are very important.
“We’ve played them hard in recent years, and we’ll attempt to play them well on Sunday. We want to demonstrate our abilities because we know we are playing a strong team.
