After making his long-awaited comeback to play earlier this month, Liverpool’s teenage winger Kaide Gordon has now experienced yet another delay due to an injury.
However, the youngster’s most recent ailment is unrelated to the pelvic issue brought on by his physical growth, which kept him out of commission for more than 18 months.
When Gordon came off the bench during the last period of the under-21s’ 4-1 Premier League 2 loss at home to Middlesbrough on September 3, it was his first competitive appearance since February 2022.
The winger, who will turn 19 only a month from now, then rolled his ankle and is now anticipated to miss a few weeks of play.
After scoring in his FA Cup debut against Shrewsbury Town in January 2022, Gordon went on to become the second-youngest scorer in the club’s history. The following week, he made his Premier League debut off the bench against Brentford, and the following month, he became the youngest Liverpool player to start a major semi-final when he played in the League Cup second leg victory at Arsenal.
The teenager made his senior Liverpool debut at the age of 16 in the League Cup victory at Norwich City in September 2021. He was signed from Derby County in February 2021 in a transaction that might potentially be worth £3 million.
With Harvey Blair and Oakley Cannonier both recovering from injuries—the former having not played since last season—the Liverpool U21s are already lacking a number of crucial attacking players.
